Things we can't wait to tell you about...

An important change to Otixo

In planning how to create an even brighter Otixo future, we’ve had to make a serious business decision:

Otixo will no longer offer a free account.

This new direction will help us support you even better – bringing our users new features, more clouds and more personalized support.

Today, all free accounts will start a 14-day free trial period, after which, we sincerely hope users will continue to support us by purchasing a monthly or yearly subscription for unlimited use of Otixo.

Here’s more information about the subscription plans:

As part of these changes, we’ve also decided to make our mobile app, Photixo, free. Get it today at the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store!

Please join us on this journey to help Otixo redefine how we live, work and play in the clouds.

CX: Their recent changes and what it means for you

Hello Otixo Users!

If you discovered Otixo through CX (or if it was the other way around), you’ve most likely heard about CX’s recent changes to their Terms of Service. In case you haven’t, here’s a brief summary of the changes:

  • CX’s 10 GB Starter free account will now require that users log in at least every 15 days.
  • Existing CX Users can upgrade for just $.99 a month (here).
  • CX will mark existing free accounts as inactive if they are not logged into at least once every 15 days. If 15 days goes by without a login, the CX account will be marked as inactive and will no longer be accessible for free. CX grants these Users a 30 day grace period to purchase a plan and re-activate the account.
  • CX’s Desktop Sync will be a paid feature beginning in 2013. It will be included (for a limited time – until December 31, 2012) in the $.99 a month upgrade CX is offering to their existing users.

We checked with CX this morning and can confirm that accessing your CX account through Otixo (ie. clicking on CX when you’re in Otixo) will count as an activity, thus keeping your account “active” and free.

So if you’re stoked about CX, you’ve got something to add to your calendar – click around in your CX account via Otixo every 15 days OR pay them $.99 a month for your 10 GB account.

CX blog about Denver Startup Week & DEMOgala

CX UX/UI designer Nick Casares recently reviewed the 2012 Denver Startup Week and the Colorado Technology Association’s DEMOgala. Nick  volunteered at DEMO, and here’s what he had to say about the experience:

DEMOgala was one of the highlights of my week. CTA is a fantastic resource for Colorado technology entrepreneurs that helps connect founders with talent and resources. I had the opportunity to serve on an experience committee for the show, and it couldn’t have been more fun. My volunteer crew and I spent about 6 weeks prepping for the show, working with exhibitors, and planning the show space. The show was an absolute hit, and attendees got to connect one-on-one with some of Colorado’s premier tech companies. A full day of talks and tech demos culminated in awarding a $25,000 check to the Colorado tech company showing the most promise. I was thrilled when Otixo (a CX cloud storage partner) was awarded the grand prize.

Alfresco is coming to Otixo!

logo Alfresco is coming to Otixo!

In the next few weeks we’ll be adding Alfresco in the Cloud to our repertoire! Alfresco’s free account provides 10 GB of storage with more pricing information available here.

Take a look at their video to learn more about the service:

Shannon Thomas, Otixo’s CEO, is particularly excited to support Alfresco, as the need to support business use cases grow.

With the integration of Alfresco, Otixo makes its first foray into the enterprise and finally connects your work and home life into a single place. Now you can search for any file, no matter what services it resides in, or move it from your Google Drive, Dropbox, Skydrive, etc. account into Alfresco with a simple drag-and-drop…whether you’re at your desktop or on the road.

Alfresco is just one of the new integrations in our pipeline. Stay tuned for some exciting new partners in Otixo!

Calling All Coders…

would you like to have Otixo in your application? If the answer is “Yes!” then you’re in luck! In the next few months we will be releasing an API. Our API will allow developers to integrate Otixo into their applications. We hope this will lead to great partnerships and increased usability for Otixo users.

Interested in Beta testing our API?

Send an email to ceo at otixo dot com telling us about your application and what Otixo integration would look like. We’ll be selecting several private Beta testers to work with us over the coming months while we perfect our API.

Collaborate without Boundaries

The Otixo Team is comprised of ten people in four offices across three nations and twelve time zones. We’ve learned how to collaborate over distance, though it hasn’t always been easy.

When our American CEO and German CTO get together they brainstorm ways to make it easier. One of those ideas became Otixo’s Spaces. They envisioned a way to collaborate on multiple projects with multiple people without compromising their own workflows.

Spaces is designed without compromise in mind – we want you to use the services you like without adapting your digital life for a specific project. Spaces lets you do just that.

Collaborate without moving your files

You and your collaborators can link files from any services to a Space.
